  Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lymphatic Drainage?

A lymphatic drainage treatment or manual lymphatic drainage uses gentle rhythmic motions to increase lymphatic flow and relieve swelling and fibrosis after serious injury, medical treatment, or illness all while entering you into deep relaxation. What does your Lymphatic System do?

Typically, the lymphatic system collects fluid called lymph and cellular waste through your lymph vessels and lymph nodes. It then recycles or disposes of it. If injury, surgery, or anything that may disrupt the lymphatic process occurs, it can cause fluid to collect in your limbs and body, causing them to swell.

Why get post surgery manual lymphatic drainage?

Lymphatic work after surgery, especially plastic surgery, is a common practice that is growing in popularity. It helps reduce swelling, prevent/treat fibrosis and help scar tissue settle. Generally, people get better results, less pain and faster healing time. If you are already experiencing fibrosis we can generally work on the area to reduce or eliminate it.

There are many people claiming they do post-op massage or lymphatic drainage. If they are not licensed and certified in lymphatic drainage, they can harm you. No one should be cutting open your incisions or causing you intense pain during your post-op treatment sessions.

I need care now but you are booked. What do I do?

Text me at 423-834-8289 (quickest) or email me at formbodylymph@gmail.com

I generally have a few spots saved for acute situations though I book out many months in advance and highly recommend you pre-book your sessions!

Do I need my doctor/surgeons clearance?

Manual lymphatic drainage does not need to be cleared by a doctor, but it is always a good idea to ask if you are a suitable candidate. Things that may be dangerous for you to receive it include DVT, history of blood clots, heart failure and kidney failure.

Do you do shorter sessions so I can test how I will react?

60 minute sessions are the shortest I offer. In the past I've tried 30 minutes with clients, but found it to not be enough time to thoroughly address the problem area, while properly clearing the lymphatic system.

What types of payment do you take?

I accept credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and of course cash.
